Greetings Planet Q TV Fans,
Every Thursday I try to do a major update to our family of websites and lately we have been behind as we prepare to move to a new office. But alas, the update is finish (the move is not) and we have a lot of new videos to showcase on Planet Q TV this week.
In a couple of weeks, we hope to be showcasing new videos from “Out At The Center” – a video production series from the team at the LGBT community center in New York City and the TV trailer for Urban Raiders – the upcoming Hip Hop Reality TV show.
I am also placing a renew interest in Homo Hip Hop – the gay hip hop sub culture that exist in our
Granthm - Gay Hip Hop Artist
community unknown to many music fans. If you are a rap or hip hop fan, then know that there are some great gay artist out there that are producing some fantastic music. To listen to one artist, subscribe to the Click Click Expose Podcast Network (Click Here) – and listen to artist Granthm.
We will be showcasing his music for the next few weeks. I also uploaded some new videos courtesy of You Tube on gay rapper Soce, an interview with Deadlee and gay rapper QBoy from the UK.
For our lesbian fans….you have not been left out (and come on guys – it won’t kill you to watch a video with girls in it) – we are featuring a fantastic video podcast show called “U People TV” from director Hanifah Walidah and her partner. We have a couple of their podcast shows up, her music video and their latest podcast show “I heart Brooklyn Girls” – episode number 46.
Our video content producer “Drag Queen Posse” has uploaded several new videos including Part 1 and Part 2 of the Azucar Awards and a dreamgirl revue on stage.
Are you a Lady Gaga fan? Check out her video “Just Dance” along with some behind the scene footage that is fun to watch. Lady Gaga is courtesy of Interscope Records.
Finally I had a chance to email chat with a viewer who is running a science video sharing website who uploaded an interesting animation video on HIV replication for all you medical and science nerds (just kidding) – the video is quite interesting.
Lastly, if you are a gay pageant fan – then the team over at Click Click Expose has filmed their last major pageant for the 2008 year which was Missouri Entertainer of the Year Preliminary pageant held in St. Louis, MO. We have preview videos from both Friday and Saturday night and Adrian (with his Flip Phone in had) did a behind the scenes look at the pageant.
So much to watch…we hope you find something you like. Remember, share your videos, join our community and let us know what you think as we provide the best place to find LGBT videos from all over the world.

If you are like me, you have a growing concern over the high cost of cable TV. Prices are going up, selection is down and the quality is sub-par. If you are gay and want channels like Logo TV – you are forced to buy the upper tier of cable or satellite programming in order to get the channel. Same is true if you are a person who likes the Military Channel or the International History Channel. I pay almost $100 every month for cable TV and I must say there may be 5 to 10 channels out of 250 that I watch – to me it is a complete waste of money.
So why do I think that cable TV could be the death of online videos? There is a trend now with ISP to regulate how much traffic you use on the internet. It is scary but the days of “unlimited web traffic” may be passing us by. If you are the unfortunate person (like me) who has to have Comcast for cable and internet – you will get or have gotten the letter that says you will be limited to 250GB of traffic a month. Now while 250GB might seem a lot, if you are an online gamer, download movies, watch HD content or use any of the Internet TV services – you might find yourself using a lot of that traffic.
The cable company will claim that this is an attempt to enhance your internet experience, to cut down on piracy and reduce congestion but frankly I think it is a ploy to get you to stop watching online video and get back to watching cable TV. You Tube gets more than 10 million unique visitors a month (Source: Kirkpatrick, “Tech Blog” July 17) just for starters (not to mention all of the other video sharing websites). If I was cable TV, I would be a little worried. Online video has proven to be the future, its quick, easy – you can find most of the time what you want and often find hidden gems out there that someone has taken the time to make or produce (DuderShow or U People TV are examples for me). You just can’t find that on regular tv anymore. I spend more time watching internet video than I do watching standard tv. And don’t get me started on high definition which is compressed to ridiculous levels and you can never get “good” high definition with Comcast or Direct TV. And Comcast is more than guilty of trying to stuff more HD channels in its line up than it can possibly have. Let’s face it, you can’t put a six lane highway down a two lane highway and get the same results – and that’s what these cable and satellite companies are doing with their HD offering (but I digress). The point is that with the easy advent of online video, why bother with cable TV? If you can find niche programming that interest you, once again why bother with cable TV? If the internet can be a source for thousands upon thousands of videos, why bother with cable TV? And until there is technology that will allow video to be shown in high quality on the internet and not take up a lot of bandwidth traffic – watching video online will always be a resource hog. So let’s just simply limit what you can do online, let’s limit your traffic, let’s say we are doing it in the best interest of our customers and then charge you if you go over that limit. Can I say with certainty that is what the cable companies are doing? No, but it sure seems like it. Time will only tell.
So I will keep using the internet as it evolves into the next viable multi-media platform of choice but I can’t help but wonder if the reason why our nation has such a inferior internet backbone (compared to let’s say Japan or other Asian companies) is because the cable and satellite industry has such a hold on this country that they are preventing the very evolution that should be happening with online video and internet tv. What do you think?
Here is a quick update on a variety of things concerning our most recent filming productions. Things are pretty hectic around here as I am trying to update the new pageant pay per view site, upload hours upon hours of video clips, modify the website, put together orders and process orders. It’s crazy…..but here we go:
1) The pre-order special has ended for EOY videotapes. It ran longer than expected as I did not have a chance to update the website – so for all of you people who ordered in the last 3 days – Merry Christmas (LOL – just kidding) – glad you were able to take advantage of the pre-order. I still have 4 people who ordered at EOY this year with Blossom – your orders have not been processed for various reasons – you will still get the pre-order special as soon as we clear up your payment questions;
2) I am about 3 hours away from the first draft of Finals night Mr. and Miss International Week. This was a 3 camera shoot so uploading 15 hours of video for one night took some time. Then I have to sync all cameras together from all tapes (so many tapes) and then sit through the first viewing of the pageant. I am almost done with that. Then I will go through and edit the tape down, add in the names and effects, put some special backgrouds in, color correct some camera shots and put the 2nd draft together. I hope to have that done by Sunday. Saturday I am filming a wedding so I won’t be editing all day Saturday.
3) I have started uploading and capturing Thursday night and Friday night of EOY. Adrian will be editing parts of EOY starting with the Mr. Competition. I still have to drop the 2nd camera down but the 1st camera is almost complete. I will have that done within the hour.
4) Many of you have already seen the preview clips of International Week and EOY. But if you haven’t, you can check them out at our all gay video sharing website called Planet Q TV. We hope you enjoy them!!
5) The Pageant Soup Podcast Show was cancelled today as well as the other updates to the Podcast network as I am too swamped to do the show today. The network will resume its normal programming next week. We are looking forward to inviting Nina West & Savion Simpson Black on the show. Be sure to check out episode #41 of the Pageant Soup Podcast Show as we talked to Danille Revlon who won the Miss International Plus competition.
6) If you ordered DVDs from us in the last couple of days not related to EOY, your order will go in the mail tomorrow. Sorry for the delay.
That’s it for now. I am off to finish the first draft of International Week. Everyone have a great day and thanks for your continued support.
Hey everybody, I think I am finally going off the deep end.
It has been a crazy last couple of weeks. A good kind of crazy but crazy nethertheless. One of the things about my job as a videographer that I like is that we are fortunate to get a variety of video assignments. I am not just a corporate videographer or a pagent videographer or a wedding videographer – I have gotten to do a variety of things over the last few years that keep this job interesting.
So in the last two weeks I have filmed two weddings – one a rich Swede was marrying this beautiful arabic girl (you should have seen the reception) and the other a jewish wedding where they were celebrating Jerusalem Independence day after the wedding (boy was I out of place the only black guy in the whole place). Then I was filming the MCC Church People of African Decent conference celebrating having an includive church for all races (3 days of conference meetings and worship services) and finally the 2008 Miss Duval Plus pageant. CRAZY….and on top of that we have relaunched the Planet Q TV website (our own video sharing website) and now I must move over 400 videos to the new server!!!
So you can wonder why I have not been on the blogs lately – I just haven’t had the time. But I get to come up for air this week – I have bout 70% of all of this done so life gets to be a little easier this week hopefully!!
The podcast network is updated for this week - Pageant Soup Podcast Show (which will be taking a two week break after today), gay news week in review, queer history facts and house music from New York DJ Carlos Dali. You can subscribe to the podcast network via iTunes and have the shows downloaded to you automatically or just head to our home page and click on the green button that says listen now. Also make sure you check out Planet Q TV - we will be up to about 200 videos moved over by today with more coming soon. DON’T FORGET – JOIN THE COMMUNITY, PUT IN YOUR PROFILE & UPLOAD YOUR VIDEOS TO OUR ALL GAY VIDEO SHARING WEBSITE.
until the next time….
I am always excited when I stumble across internet episodic videos by gay writers, filmakers or artist. Last year I cam across “The duder show” and was extremely impressed with the writing and quirky humor that grew on you. I have come across another set of videos from some ladies in New York. Called “U People TV,” creator and artist Hanifah Walidah and partner? Olive have put together a documentary, music video and 3 video blogs that I think you will find interesting. Now just because they are lesbians doesn’t mean you can’t watch guys…come on…check it out…these sisters have it going on.
Other videos uploaded this week include a funny as shit comedy sketch on Project Runway from the guys at Creative Nation Station +gay travels in Martinique and 3 boys on a superhero mission called “The Tranny Force.” We hope you like these new videos that we found and we give a shout out to all of the gay video content creators out there – your talents, humor and artistry make us proud.
Keep up the good work and more to come soon. HAPPY WATCHING!!

Hey Planet Q TV fans. We’re back (well we have never left) but we got behind by a week because I was in computer nirvana land building a new computer for the office. Now that I have everything back in one piece (I love my new computer by the way- High Def, 500 Watt Logitech speakers, HD DVD/Blu Ray player, 24in LCD Monitor…hehe..damn life is good) – we have updated Planet Q TV with some new videos that we think you will like.
Our friends from outdrive.ca in Canada have put together some more great auto reviews. If you have not seen their videos – check them out – sleek, elegant with a touch of class like the cars they review. Luxury auto reviews with a gay twist – courtesy of OutDrive. Today’s update include the Infiniti G37S and the 2008 Audi Q7.
We also have the 5am remix of the gay pimp himself Jonny McGovern. “Something For The Fellas” is one of his most popular songs – well check out the remix. Speaking of music check out comedian Greg Scarnici’s alter ego BQE as he raps about being “Curious” liking guys and girls in this funny rap song. Our last new music is from the group The Presets with “This Boy’s In Love” with lots of eye candy to look at.
Lastly, we travel to Paris with a video called “Lost in Francelation” – for all those people who love France but don’t quite understand what it’s all about. From Ireland, we have the short film called “Chicken” about two guys trying to come to terms with the feelings they have for each other.
We hope you like the new videos. More coming soon. DON’T FORGET TO UPLOAD YOUR VIDEOS TODAY AND BE APART OF PLANET Q TV.
