There are days when I just want to go live on a small island and disavow myself from the rest of the world. Why do I say that? Listening to Jermiah Wright’s specch last night at the NAACP fundraising event and then reading the countless posts that have been placed online makes me think that our great country still has not learn its lesson. I have not seen so much race baiting, racial hatred and political pandering done by EVERYONE – the right , the left and everybody in the middle. And now, somehow, just because Obama was in the same church as Wright – that somehow Obama has become “less of a man” and is not fit to be our next President.
Whether you are gay, black, hispanic, asian, arabic, a woman or an american indian – it seems that when anyone questions the struggle, oppression and history of people in the “minority” and compare that same struggle, oppression and history of people in the “majority” – somehow you are living in the past and being racist.
I long for the day when people can accept each other for who they are…. not what “label” society has placed on them. I long for the day when we as a society can sit down and have a honest and hearful discussion of where we have been as a nation and where we need to go. I long for the day when people realize that “your neighbor” is very different from you, learns differently from you, enjoys life differently from you and that doesn’t make them better or worse – it just makes them, THEM. Understanding is the key to acceptance. Understanding doesn’t necessarily mean agreement. You can understand and disagree but wouldn’t it be nice if we could understand and accept everyone?
or maybe my own island would just be better…..
So Adrian and I decided to go get a bite to eat. Nothing fancy…some quick food to eat..nothing special. Now we will ignore the fact that it took over 20 minutes to get our food (at least the food was fresh and good) but we are sitting there eating and we are watching someone getting interview for a job. Now I kid you not, this guy was dressed in a white t-shirt, shorts and tennis shoes. Now damn, I know this is Florida and maybe I am a little old school but going to an interview in t-shirts and shorts – no way. I would have sent that person home before I even started.
But then on top of that, the manager doing the interview gets a phone call, the employee brings her the phone and the manager is taking a personal call for 10 minutes in the middle of the interview. DAMN….so much for respecting your perspective employee. Whatever happen to “please take a message until I finish the interview” – I think if I was being interview, I wouldnt want to be hire. If you can’t respect me enough to finish my interview, how can I expect you to respect me as an employee.
Adrian and I just laughed. Now we admit we are getting older and maybe somethings have changed but looking good for an interview and respecting the interview situation is common sense – is that too much to ask?
We didn’t disappear over the last week or so – the site has been quiet & not updated as we were filming the Metropolitan Community Church PAD conference in St. Louis and the Miss Duval Plus Pageant in Jacksonville, FL. And I survive my first earthquake. It was the wierdiest thing – I think it was like 3 in the morning (I can’t remember) and first the walls started shaking…and I woke up with a WTF look on my face. Then I get up to walk around the hotel room and the entire building is shaking for about 30 to 45 seconds. Very surreal – I have been watching too many movies – the first thing I thought about is the floor falling and the whole hotel falling to the ground (hehe). After a couple of minutes it was over and I was tired as heck so I went back to sleep.
The next morning, I found out it was a 5.2 scale quake and that one of the highways in St. Louis was closed for a while because of falling debris. So that was my interesting experience. The conference was interesting (MCC, in case you are not aware, is a community of churches that serve the gay and lesbian community) and their conference this week was for people of african descent and their allies. Their goal is to be a more inclusive church of all races, religions and background. We will see how they do in the months and years ahead.
The pageant in Jacksonville for the big girls was good. It was nice to be welcome back to Jacksonville as we have not filmed a pageant there in almost 2 years so it was nice to be back at Club Metro filming once again. Congratulations to India Damore who captured the title. I will have the DVD finished in a couple of weeks (after I finish the PAD coference videos).
The podcast shows will be updated this week, along with the usual weekly web site update. Plus we have to work on a new pay per view system and I am going to redesign the Planet Q TV website againt to truly be a video sharing website. So a lot of work ahead.
Stay tune for more stuff soon….
Hey guys and gals….I wanted to let everyone know that the Podcast Network will not be updated this week for all shows. I am in St. Louis filming the MCC PAD conference and I will be unable to complete the broadcast. In addition, the Pageant Soup Podcast Show will be canceled until next week. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your continued support. Stay tune for more….
I am always excited when I stumble across internet episodic videos by gay writers, filmakers or artist. Last year I cam across “The duder show” and was extremely impressed with the writing and quirky humor that grew on you. I have come across another set of videos from some ladies in New York. Called “U People TV,” creator and artist Hanifah Walidah and partner? Olive have put together a documentary, music video and 3 video blogs that I think you will find interesting. Now just because they are lesbians doesn’t mean you can’t watch guys…come on…check it out…these sisters have it going on.
Other videos uploaded this week include a funny as shit comedy sketch on Project Runway from the guys at Creative Nation Station +gay travels in Martinique and 3 boys on a superhero mission called “The Tranny Force.” We hope you like these new videos that we found and we give a shout out to all of the gay video content creators out there – your talents, humor and artistry make us proud.
Keep up the good work and more to come soon. HAPPY WATCHING!!

I am always interested in how internet video will penetrate our current market as it seems that movies, TV shows and viral video is the wave of the future. Listen to what Walt Mossberg (colomunist at the Wall Street Journal) has to say about the challenges facing internet video today.

Hey Planet Q TV fans. We’re back (well we have never left) but we got behind by a week because I was in computer nirvana land building a new computer for the office. Now that I have everything back in one piece (I love my new computer by the way- High Def, 500 Watt Logitech speakers, HD DVD/Blu Ray player, 24in LCD Monitor…hehe..damn life is good) – we have updated Planet Q TV with some new videos that we think you will like.
Our friends from outdrive.ca in Canada have put together some more great auto reviews. If you have not seen their videos – check them out – sleek, elegant with a touch of class like the cars they review. Luxury auto reviews with a gay twist – courtesy of OutDrive. Today’s update include the Infiniti G37S and the 2008 Audi Q7.
We also have the 5am remix of the gay pimp himself Jonny McGovern. “Something For The Fellas” is one of his most popular songs – well check out the remix. Speaking of music check out comedian Greg Scarnici’s alter ego BQE as he raps about being “Curious” liking guys and girls in this funny rap song. Our last new music is from the group The Presets with “This Boy’s In Love” with lots of eye candy to look at.
Lastly, we travel to Paris with a video called “Lost in Francelation” – for all those people who love France but don’t quite understand what it’s all about. From Ireland, we have the short film called “Chicken” about two guys trying to come to terms with the feelings they have for each other.
We hope you like the new videos. More coming soon. DON’T FORGET TO UPLOAD YOUR VIDEOS TODAY AND BE APART OF PLANET Q TV.
